DACHSTEIN SKYWALK AND GLACIAL PALACE
8 GLACIERS IN ONE – A NATURAL CRAVISSE AND A PANORAMIC VIEW FOR HUNDREDS OF KILOMETERS
Dachstein (9,829 ft) is a majestic mountain with Dachstein Glacier (actually consisting of 8 glaciers!) on top. The UNESCO World Heritage Committee statet the Dachstein – Hallstatt region as an exceptional example of natural landscape of unique beauty.
To the great gifts of nature human masterminds added the likewise breathtaking creations of Dachstein Skywalk and Glacial Palace.
The upper station of the cable car is circled by a path crowned by the DACHSTEIN SKYWALK, a spectacular vantage platform. You will have a 360° panoramic view: Up into an infinite sky, around in any direction and indeed straight down the southern wall of Dachstein. Hundreds of kilometres of landscape and peaks present themselves; with perfect weather you might even see across Austria’s borders to Slovenia and the Czech Republic. The Skywalk is partly constructed of glass.
Close to the Skywalk impressive pillars made out of the glacier’s ice form the entrance to the GlACIAL PALACE, a world within the glacier. The “Throne Room”, the “Crystal Cathedral” and the “Blue Parlour” will enchant you. You even will get the chance to see a natural crevasse. It is an attraction unique in the alps.
For paragliders the Dachstein is of very special interest. Even the Red-Bull-X-Alps (hardest paragliding competition in the world) chose Dachstein as starting point. But it is also possible to fly without any experiences with a tandem flight. Starting at 8,860 ft from the Schladming glacier the experience will be more than words can say.
