These impressive tour from Salzburg Krimml waterfalls – 5th biggest in the world – 1250 ft in three steps – are a must-see. On the waterfall trail with viewing platforms you can get very close to the breathtaking spectacle until you reach the top fall and the peaceful valley of Krimmler Aache. The waterfalls are Austrias only Natural Monument and were awarded with the European Diploma of Protected Areas.

Europe’s highest waterfalls and the 5th biggest in the world
Austria’s only Natural Monument, awarded with the “European Diploma of Protected Areas”
Getting to the waterfalls we will take a picturesque route via German valleys and mountains to the town Zell am See, world famous for tourism and a climatic health resort, situated between Lake Zellersee and the mountain Schmittenhöhe. There we will have our first break before we go on to the final destination, the Krimml Waterfalls.
Dropping down from a height of 1250 ft in three steps these impressive waterfalls (located in the gorgeous scenery of the National Park Hohe Tauern) are a must-see for everyone.
Via a serpentine Waterfall trail with viewing platforms you will get very close to this breathtaking natural spectacle. Only 10 to 15 minutes walk are necessary to get from the parking lot to the lowest waterfall (accessible also for disabled persons). Then for approximately 1 ¼ hours, while going up to the top waterfall and to the peaceful valley of Krimmler Ache, you can marvel at the beauty and grandiosity of this Natural Monument of the Alps.
Indeed, it is difficult to say more about this wonderful tour as words cannot fully describe nor do justice to this special place.
Yet, there is still something very interesting: The Krimml Waterfalls are part of current scientific research regarding the effects of waterfalls on the human organism (especially the immune system). The first sensational pre-results show that the movements of those parts of the respiratory tract which are responsible for cleaning double at the waterfall!
So, go there and see!
