From Salzburg we take you directly to Vienna. The first stop will be at the Royal Palace Schönbrunn. This wonderful palace with the Gloriette, the huge elaborate park with many statues, fountains and the oldest zoo of its kind in the world are among the most important cultural monuments in Austria and UNESCO World Cultural Heritage.
From there we head for the Innere Stadt district with the Stephansdom surrounded by the Ringstrasse, one of Vienna’s main sights.
The Ringstrasse replaced the former city walls and was intended to show the glory and grandeur of the Habsburg Empire. According to that had been the plans for the buildings to erect which are now the world famous Ringstrassen-Buildings. These buildings had been that important that even an architectural style had been named after them: The Ringstrasse Style. The plans included also squares and many green areas and trees as well as statues of outstanding personalities of historic import like the Empress Maria Theresia.
You will see especially the Museum of Applied Arts, the Vienna State Opera House, the Museum of Art History, the Museum of Natural History, the Hofburg, the Spanish Hors Riding School, the Parliament, the Justizpalast (now Federal Ministry of Justice), the Burg Theater, the City Hall, the Votiv Church, the Palais Württemberg (now Hotel Imperial), Belvedere Palace and many other monumental buildings.
The parks around are the City Park, the Hofburg Garden, the Public Garden and the Town Hall Park.
In between sightseeing there will be enough time to enjoy the delicacies in pastry shops and the Viennese cooking.
